Today marks availability of the first GnR preview: ZCS 6.0 Beta 1 Open Source Edition. Admins and developers can find it over on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zimbra.com\/community\/downloads_betas.html\" target=\"_blank\">downloads<\/a> page, for the less technically inclined we\u2019ll also have a new hosted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zimbra.com\/products\/hosted_demo.php\" target=\"_blank\">demo<\/a> up shortly.<\/p>\n<p>Some feature highlights: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zimbrablog.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/tabs_third-pane.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zimbrablog.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/tabs.png\" alt=\"\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00bb A new horizontal \u2018three panel\u2019 view with the message on the right.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb There are now tabs for individual messages as well as the compose page.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb Document &amp; Briefcase access from the standard HTML client.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb Share management &amp; discovery UI that lets you see all shares (email, contacts, calendar, tasks, docs, etc) at a glance. Join a distribution list late? Find all existing shares with the group.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb The ability to run existing email filters over the contents of a folder.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zimbrablog.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/read-reciept_pref.png\" alt=\"\" align=\"right\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00bb Did you get it? Know instantly, as read receipts have been implemented in the web-client.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb Improved calendar resource auto-accept\/decline conflict handling.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb Calendar <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zimbrablog.com\/blog\/archives\/2008\/12\/zimbra-desktop-beta-5-sharing-fisheye-yahoo-google-cal-sync.html\" target=\"_blank\">fisheye view<\/a> &#8211; previously in Zimbra Desktop, now in ZCS.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zimbrablog.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/rssguy48.png\" alt=\"\" align=\"left\" \/> \u00bb Auto-updating RSS feeds &amp; ICS event URLs on a configurable schedule.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb Per-user blacklists &amp; whitelists are exposed in the revamped mail preferences area.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb \u2018Published\u2019 Zimlets management for end users in options. (Zimlets themselves can now define a new application or preferences tab.)<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb Mobile web-client overhauls: Including a special mini logon page, better appointment creation, and six new variants based on device type and connection speed.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zimbrablog.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/share-management-discovery.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zimbrablog.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/prefs.png\" alt=\"\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n\u00bb Auto-complete from shared address books; and recently used contacts are presented first.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb Configurable spell check on every send.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb On-behalf-of aka sendAs option on compose in shared folders\/relationship accounts.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb Appointment list view &amp; refined print layouts.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb Full featured detached message view for the advanced AJAX client.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb  Attach files during mail compose directly from the briefcase; in the briefcase UI you can now send as attachments or links.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb Pressure-based scrolling of folder and message list (within the same page).<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb OpenLDAP now allows for some <a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.zimbra.com\/index.php?title=Performance_Tuning_Guidelines_for_Large_Deployments_6.0#Zimbra_OpenLDAP_Server\">on-the-fly<\/a> configuration changes with zmlocalconfig via a cn=config backend instead of slapd.conf text files for preservation across upgrades.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb GALsync accounts via datasource contact folders with sorting, browsing, and enhanced client usability.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb MySQL as the logger DB has been removed, in favor of more zmstat service implementation mixed with SQLite &amp; RRD for the <a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.zimbra.com\/index.php?title=Logger%28GnR%29\" target=\"_blank\">new logger<\/a> service.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bb Role based delegated permissions on every individual feature. Now you can create distribution list managers, while <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zimbra.com\/partners\/zimbra_hosting.html\" target=\"_blank\">HSP\u2019s<\/a> can give someone permission to manage multiple domains from one login.
